Apple Dapple Cake

Ingredients
2 cups sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 3 cups chopped apples (about 3 apples) 2 cup chopped pecans, optional 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg Caramel Sauce Caramel Sauce 1 cup butter 2 cups light brown sugar 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
Preheat electric oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch bundt pan. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream sugar, eggs and oil. Mix in remaining ingredients, except Caramel Sauce. Pour batter into prepared pan; bake for 1 hour. Before serving, top each piece with Caramel Sauce. Makes 12 servings. Caramel Sauce In a small saucepan, melt butter; add sugar and bring to a boil. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in cream. Makes about 3 cups.
