| Advancements in electronic technology allow today’s businesses to run more productively and efficiently than ever before. Unfortunately, some electronic equipment is very sensitive to small variations in the electricity being supplied. Power Quality is a set of metrics used to benchmark the quality of the electric service provided to customers. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) have developed power quality metrics that most electric utilities in the United States use to measure the quality of electricity being delivered. Using national standards ensures that electric utilities, equipment manufacturers, consultants, and end users have a common understanding of the electric service that is expected at the interface point between the utility and the customer’s premise. |
