Energy Efficiency Awards
On July 1, 2009, the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission transferred responsibility for the energy efficiency programs formerly run by the Hawaiian Electric companies to Hawaii Energy Efficiency Programs. All of us at the Hawaiian Electric companies thank our customers and participating contractors for helping make our energy efficiency programs so successful. By installing new chillers, motors, lighting and other energy efficient technologies, commercial customers have helped reduce demand for electricity on Oahu by 169 megawatts. That’s the equivalent of a large power plant, a huge success for an island community with limited space and resources. Hawaiian Electric Company, Maui Electric Company, and Hawaii Electric Light Company recognized local businesses and organizations that incorporated energy-efficient technologies in their facilities with Energy Efficiency Awards. Congratulations to our past Energy Efficiency Award winners!
