On April 29, 2011, Hawaiian Electric issued a request for proposals (RFP) to supply up to forty-two (42) million gallons of sustainably produced, renewable biofuel per year to fuel the Kahe Generating Station (KPP) for a term of two (2) years to commence as early as July 2014.

Submission deadline for the proposals is July 29, 2011 with the goal of submitting a proposed contract to the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission for approval in 2012. To access the RFP documents, click on the links below.

On January 31, 2011, Hawaiian Electric issued a request for proposals (RFP) to supply three to seven million gallons of sustainably produced, renewable biodiesel per year to fuel the 110-megawatt Campbell Industrial Estate Industrial Park Generation Station (CIP CT-1) for a term of three (3) years to commence as early as July 2012.  Included is a request to supply 250,000 gallons of biodiesel per year for the 8-megawatt Honolulu International Airport Emergency Power Facility (HIA EPF) which is projected to be in service in the summer of 2012. 

Submission deadline for the proposals is March 15, 2011 with the goal of submitting a proposed contract to the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission for approval by June 2011.  To access the RFP documents, click on the links below.

On August 14, 2009, Hawaiian Electric issued requests for proposals (RFP) to supply sustainably produced, renewable biodiesel to fuel the new Campbell Industrial Park Generation Station. Contract awards were made in 2009, subject to approval by Hawaii's Public Utilities Commission, to satisfy the requirements set forth in these two RFPs.
