Established by the White House and sponsored by the National Science Foundation, HECO locally supports this program, which recognizes outstanding science and math teachers throughout the nation.
This program was established in 1983 by the White House and is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Outstanding mathematics and science teachers are identified in each state.
Recognition is given to teachers in four award groups: elementary mathematics, elementary science, secondary mathematics, and secondary science. These teachers serve as role models for their colleagues and are leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.
