This is a good example of how you can think big about a project that is small.

This project involved a complete renovation of an old vacant building.  Emphasis was placed on energy efficiency, which included: T8 lamps with electronic ballasts, room controls with four levels of intensity, and occupancy sensors.  Care was given in determining window placements to avoid direct exposure to the sun thereby avoiding heat gain.  Windows with direct sun exposure are shaded by roof overhangs or awnings.  All windows are double glazed and insulated with solar gray tint.  All walls and ceilings are insulated, and the roof is vented.

The building has two very efficient 2.5 ton Rheem split systems, each with their own thermostats for greater overall control.  The judges called this project creative and comprehensive.  The result is a 47% reduction in energy use.
